Can you schedule a virtual care visit before you are seen in person?
Yes, virtual care visits are available to any eligible member of the Lincoln Health and Wellness Center. Upon request a virtual care visit will always be available to perform an assessment of the patient’s concerns/conditions. Based upon the assessment the provider may recommend an in person visit if they feel it is necessary to physically examine the patient or perform diagnostic tests or labs.
What to expect during a virtual care visit
During a virtual visit, based on your specific concern, you will meet face to face via video with a provider (phone only can be used if connection or location is an issue). A mobile device or a computer with a video camera in a private location are ideal for a virtual visit.
At the time of your visit the provider will complete an assessment, depending on the nature of the visit they may ask to be shown anything that can be visualized in/on non-sensitive body parts. It is important to note that based upon the assessment, the provider may recommend an in person visit if they feel it is necessary to physically examine the patient. In some cases, a provider may also order other diagnostic tests, like labs, and based on those, provide follow up recommendations once the results are in. In that case, the patient will receive instructions on how to have those completed. Finally, if needed, a provider may also prescribe medication. If the medication prescribed is part on the Lincoln Health and Wellness Center dispensing list (formulary), it can be picked up at a health and wellness center location, or using the SavRx card at a participating local retail pharmacy at no cost. Otherwise, it will be sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice, Highmark Blue Shield costs apply. Click here to learn more about medications dispensed onsite and the Sav-Rx program.
